During the 2023 Parachute Industry Association Symposium, the Highlight Pro Skydiving Team took the stage to discuss how they use their diverse skillset to teach each other, learn from each other and grow as individuals and as a team. Each teammate comes from a very different part of the skydiving community, but they all have a lot of experience in extreme high pressure situations. In this fireside chat, they discuss how to decide on limits when conducting demo jumps, and how trust is one of the biggest factors determining the success of their team.
Highlight strives to open up and have more conversations about Equality. As one of their core missions, they aim to help and encourage anybody and everybody to join the skydiving community. Melanie discusses “Allyship” being the idea of being in service to a marginalized group, after all, women are a marginalized group within skydiving. She says “The idea of elevating women will only benefit everyone, the idea of making skydiving feel safer and more inclusive for women and people of color will only make our skydiving experience better!” Bringing positivity to the sport is an immediate focus for the team.
